Report: The Buick Envision should come to our shores next year

Last year, Buick revealed an all-new midsize crossover for the Chinese market where they’re outrageously popular. And thus far, being an American automaker, we’ve strangely carried on without a midsize entrant from Buick as the Enclave and Encore continue to be sold as the Envision was first revealed and launched for the Chinese market only.

Due to growing demand, it was only a matter of time until Buick was going to announce the Envision for the US market, though according to AutomotiveNews, it won’t be US bound until early next year. This is contrary to a previous report from Edmunds a while back, who said the Envision could be launched as early as the third quarter of this year.

The launch of the Envision however will also coincide with the launch of Buick’s first-ever convertible since the Reatta in the early 1990s–a rebadged and slightly reengineered version of the Opel Cascada.

The Envision is described to be similar in size as the Chevrolet Equinox and will come with GM’s latest 2.0L turbocharged four with 256hp and 260 lb-ft of twist with a six-speed automatic.
