Report: Buick to allow 24-hour test drives at participating dealers

Looking to use a car for free and without commitment? No problem! Buick’s got your back as they’re now offering 24-hour test drives!

Alright, this isn’t just a freebie opportunity to drive a Buick for 24-hours (yes it is), but it’s more so aimed and prospective buyers who just still haven’t swallowed the idea that Buick not longer makes cars destined for rental car lots and your grandparents’ driveways.

Starting July 23rd, prospective owners can take home a new Buick for one day to see what it’s like to live with as part of their new nationwide marketing campaign, “24 Hours of Happiness.” Buick piloted the program in Phoenix and received good response, so they’re going to attempt it on a national scale.

But there’s a catch. Loaner cars are only available from dealers who have the fleets to support the loans while current customers’ cars are in for service. GM in general tried more than 500,000 “extended test drives” nationally, which yielded them 190,000 additional sales. Buyers were also granted a $250 credit if they chose a non-GM vehicle after their test drive and weren’t satisfied.
