Not too long ago, Hyundai introduced the Creta subcompact crossover, an Indian-built model made specifically for the Asian market. Though because crossovers are hotter than pretty much anything else on the market these days, Hyundai is supposedly establishing plans to export the Creta to other market, such as the European and North American market.
In the latest article from Reuters, Hyundai and Kia combined make up the fifth largest automaker by sales in the world and by the end of this year, expect to sell 8.2 million vehicles, a 2.5 percent increase over last year’s statistic. Despite the large number, this has been the conglomerate’s slowest growth rate since 2003.
To fix that, Hyundai seeks to sell the Creta in other markets as they also prepare to boost production at their plants in China and the US. Ultimately, Hyundai seeks to export up to 13,000 units outside India, where the Creta is made, by the end of this year.
Specifics as to when the Creta could reach our shores were not announced.
