Reports are rolling in after some data raised some attention to indicate that Volkswagen AG stole Toyota’s title to become the world’s top automaker by sales for this year.
CNN reports that Volkswagen sold around 5.04 million vehicles form January to June, which oddly is a lower figure than the same period last year. In comparison, Toyota sold 5.02 million units this year between January and June.
Overall demand has decreased for new automobiles around the world as economies have been significantly fluctuating more than a woman’s attitude during PMS. And Volkswagen is well aware of these market changes.
Toyota increased production in the US recently, though due to some shakeups in the past few months, mainly the massive recall with Takata-made airbags, some fears have affected Toyota’s overall sales performance.
We wouldn’t want pieces of shrapnel flying in our faces or the faces of our passengers either, but we doubt that the inflator issues on older models are much of a concern for newer models…at least, we’d hope.
