As a Mercedes-Benz fanatic personally, I thought I learned and heard of all the cars that they produced. But this particular model is a bit a stranger to me and is likely to be just as estranged to you as well.
And that’s because, this particular 1995 Lotec Mercedes-Benz C1000 might just be the rarest Mercedes-Benz of them all. Commissioned by a wealthy citizen of the United Arab Emirates in 1994, with supercar coachbuilder, Lotec, this C1000 is a one-off car, meaning only one of these exists in the world.
This unnamed individual sought to own the fastest car in the world and contacted Mercedes-Benz to make it happen, while getting Lotec to design the body.
According to the description for the auction, listed at DuPont Registry where it’s being sold by Lamborghini Carolinas in Greensboro, NC, it’s going for a current price of a cool $1,250,000.
The C1000 features a 5.6L Mercedes-Benz V8 with two Garrett turbochargers, running exclusively on a mixture of unleaded gas and aviation fuel. It’s mated to a Hwekand five-speed racing gearbox and four-ram AP IMSA racing brakes. The result is a 0-60 time of 3.2 seconds while 0-125 took only 8.08 seconds. Top speed: a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport-like 262 mph. And this was back in 1995, folks.
The body’s made of carbon fiber and Aerospace material frame.
The design and engineering of the C1000 cost around $1,000,000 while the actual construction of the car totaled over $1,250,000. Good luck trying to find parts for this puppy.
