Audi expectedly seems to have not been immune from the huge Volkswagen AG “dieselgate” scandal, making up all the recent headlines in the automobile news sphere.
The Ingolstadt-based automaker released a statement confirming that nearly 2.1 million diesel cars sold worldwide were fitted with a similar defeat device that allowed the cars to cheat on their emissions tests.
That’s a solid portion of the original alleged number of 11 million vehicles affected total in all of Volkswagen AG’s portfolios.
The breakdown comes to 1.45 million Audi vehicles affected in Western Europe, 577,000 cars in Germany, and around 13,000 cars in the United States. Models include the A1, A3, A4, A5, A6, TT, Q3 and Q6 TDI models.
Who knows what’s next, but we doubt Skoda, SEAT, and Porsche models are immune from this huge controversy.
