The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG was the last halo flagship supercar to ever come from the Silver Arrow of Stuttgart and the kings of Affalterbach.
It was a sure-footed way to showcase the brand’s at-the-time strides in motorsports and engineering, especially when it came to highlighting the lovely 6.2L naturally-aspirated racing-bred M159 V8 that powered the SLS AMG, and many other AMG cars after it. And it definitely served its purpose.
Now, as a successor to the SLS AMG is supposedly in the works, according to AutoBlog, who socred some infor from some insider sources. Though this time around, it’ll sport a new V12, currently under development. Here’s the kicker though, it’s supposedly going to be mated to an electric motor and a battery to ultimately make a hybrid setup.
Hybrids are cool now, you know, thanks to the LaFerrari, McLaren P1, and the Porsche 918 Spyder. And naturally, it was only a matter of time until other automakers like Mercedes-Benz were going to follow suit. But that’s only because CAFE’s just being relentless.
