If you’ve been wondering what’s been going on with BMW’s and Toyota’s highly-anticipated midsize sports coupe that has the world expecting a Toyota Supra successor, we have too. This is especially apparent with the existence of the Toyota FT-1 Concept, which makes us yearn for it even more.
Now, a new development rolls in from AutomotiveNews, reporting of BMW and Toyota possibly coming to a conclusion about the sports car by the end of this year.

“By the end of the year we will approve whether or not we will make it,” said a spokesperson to AN Europe. “The whole study before that, on what kind of platform, on what kind of architecture, that’s been progressing quite well. We haven’t yet decided to give the green light to the project, but it’s coming up.”
The collaboration has resulted in many rumors, ranging from a Supra successor (which really hasn’t been officially announced), to just a midsize sports coupe powered by a twin-turbo BMW engine, to a possible hybrid sports car, and more. And it doesn’t help that they teased us even more with the Toyota FT-1 Concept.
But for all we know, we can conclude that BMW and Toyota just need to come to a conclusion already, and make it.
