Report: GM could delay launch of Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon diesels

Amid the shady reputation hovering around the latest clean diesels from Germany, AutomotiveNews heard General Motors plans to be more cautious with the launch of their new light-duty diesel midsize trucks, the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon.

The Environmental Protection Agency’s recent action against Volkswagen has automakers on heightened alert with their oil burners, to make sure their entire processes of legitimizing compression ignition-powered cars is done by the book, with no compromise.

As a result, the launch of GM’s highly-anticipated Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon diesels could be delayed as a result of the need for extra testing. The mill under question, just in case as a precautionary measure, would be GM’s latest 2.8L Duramax turbodiesel featuring 181hp and 369 lb-ft of twist.
