Honda’s looking to delve into the world of the sports EV with an all-electric vehicle capable of producing 350hp, according to AutoExpress.
In a move likely influenced by Tesla Motors’ ability to make luxury sports EVs, Honda’s apparently seeking out its electric Pikes Peak competition car as a starting point for this new project. That specific car started life as a Honda CR-Z. It was then fitted with four electric motors with each one powering one wheel, while juice was supplied by a 16 kWh lithium-ion battery. The output for the Pikes Peak car was around 250hp, but with improving technology, a new target output or 350hp is set.
The goal is to have the new sports car sprint to 60 in just 3.5 seconds while providing a range of 250 miles on one charge. The production car will also feature Honda’s new Precision All-Wheel Steer system.
