Report: The Maserati Alfieri Coupe and Cabrio delayed

Maserati Alfieri Concept

Maserati’s hotly-anticipated and drop-dead gorgeous seems to have hit a bit of a road block and will be fashionably late to its own launch.

According to Automobile, who sat down with Maser’s CEO, Harald Wester, the Alfieri Coupe was pushed back until 2018 with the Cabrio as well following a year later in 2018. Originally, the plan was to have the Alfieri on sale by 2016 with the Cabrio arriving in 2017.

Though due to the additional pending launch of the Levante, on top of the effects of slow demand, Maserati needed to reallocate some resources, especially towards the Levante crossover.

Speaking of which, the Levante is still on track to be launched next year, which will hopefully boost the company’s sales and thus, allow them to turn in some profits.

Following the Levante will be the Alfieri, and afterwards, a new GranTurismo is expected to show up at the end of 2019 or 2020 to replace the current mode. It’s expected to sport an all-new V8, possibly with turbocharging to forgo the current model’s naturally-aspirated motor. Around 550hp is expected with the more powerful MC version churning out something to the tune of 600.
