Maserati doesn’t seem to get out of its slump of low desirability as AutomotiveNews Europe reports the Trident of Italy will be closing up shop at production for the first week of November due to slow demand. And this isn’t just in America or Europe as sales are even declining in China, the largest car market in the world.
Around 2,000 employees will be getting a work-sanctioned vacation because orders have been mainly fulfilled at Maserati and production exceeded the demand, according to the company’s CEO, Harald Wester.
This isn’t the first time this happened this year as production for the Ghibli and Quattroporte were halted in the second quarter of 2015 due to a similar drop in demand, hacking away at the company’s profits.
As a result, Maserati will dedicate its resources more to the preparation for the launch of the new Ghibli-based Levante crossover, which is the company’s only major chance at success in terms of making a popular selling model that could result in greater profits.
