Report: McLaren supposedly confirms 675LT Spider

When the McLaren 675LT first came out at the 2015 Geneva Auto Show, it was a very hot topic because all of the models sold out almost instantly.

Basically an elongated version of the mid-level 650S–formerly the MP12-4C–the 675LT was available in hardtop form only and featured improvements with aerodynamics and downforce, as well as weight reduction over the standard 650S.

So in a sense, the 675LT was a slightly sportier version of the 650S, despite being longer in length. It weighs about 220lbs less than the 650S, which is a considerable number. Power though remained to be supplied by McLaren’s in-house twin-turbocharged 3.8L V8 with 665hp and 516 lb-ft of twist, mated to a seven-speed SSG gearbox, allowing for a sprint to 60 MPH in just 2.8 seconds.

But as we mentioned before, the 675LT was sold out from the factory, being limited to 500 units in total. Now however, those still itching for one might be able to snag one, but in convertible form only as Netherlands’ Autovisie reports McLaren confirmed the production of a convertible version of the 675LT.

The Spider version will also be limited in production while also commanding a huge premium over the coupe, according to the news bit, with a starting price of around 259,900 GBP.

The engine will remain the same, so essentially the 675LT Spider will be the 675LT Coupe, but with its head chopped off.
