Report: The specs for the Toyota S-FR production version apparently leaked

2015 Toyota S-FR Concept

Some details regarding the Toyota S-FR Concept were apparently leaked recently on an enthusiast message board site specifically set up for Toyota’s new S-FR subcompact rear-wheel drive sports coupe, which is due for a full reveal at the Tokyo Motor Show in just a few weeks.

Although the S-FR is currently a concept only at this time, it’s apparently a fully-functioning prototype as well.

According to SFRForums.com, the concept is powered by a naturally-aspirated 1.5L four-banger lifted from the JDM-spec Corolla. It’s been fitted however with direct-injection to up the motor’s output to 125hp and 109 lb-ft of twist with all of said power being sent to the proper wheels at the back, through a six-speed Aisin manual gearbox. So far, no plans of an automatic were mentioned–HOONRAY!

Another key specification wasn’t revealed during the web-launch of the S-FR Concept, the weight of the car. But thanks to some internal sources at SFRForums, the concept supposedly tilts the scales at just 2,160lbs and a double-wishbone suspension sits at all four corners. That just sounds like sex to the ears and on paper.

The S-FR is intended to sit below the Toyota GT-86 in terms of lineup placement, so the S-FR could be more like a Kei car.

No details were leaked regarding the availability of the car or when or where it will be sold.
