Reuters reports of another follow-up to Volkswagen’s Dieselgate, where the People’s Car maker is said to be retrofitting some 11 million cars with a fix for the emissions cheat, found on millions of diesel-powered cars around the world.
Customers with affected vehicles will basically be recalled to their dealers, though specifics as to what this “retrofit” is haven’t been revealed.
Volkswagen’s new CEO, Matthias Muller, hopped on the PR wire to say that details should be released over the next few days. So far, it’s estimated that the cost of Volkswagen’s damage control should tally around $6.5 billion in total.
Volkswagen of America’s Mark Gillies also reached out to say that no fix is currently yet available for cars affected in North America, but engineers are working on the matter as a top priority.
