2015 LA Preview: The refreshed 2017 Mercedes-Benz SL breaks cover on the web

2015 LA Auto Show - 2017 Mercedes-Benz SL

Mercedes-Benz just announced to be introducing a newly updated 107 SL-Class roadster on the web at the Los Angeles Auto Show next week.

Along with the announcement, Mercedes also released some pictures of the new roadster, which for its mid-cycle refresh, got the typical list of aesthetic updates. The biggest change on the outside is the slightly reshaped front fascia, where the headlights, grille, and front bumper all benefit from a sleeker, and more refined look. Originally, the front profile of the SL was a bit polarizing. But now, it more closely resembles the details found on newer models such as the AMG GT.

The back end remains mostly unchanged, except for some minor details such as a revised rear bumper, and new LED taillights.

The more aggressive changes to the body show up on the SL63 and SL65 AMG versions of the roadster, where both cars benefit from the same minor changes as the base SL, but have larger air ducts on the front AMG bumper, a larger diffuser on the rear, and new exhaust pipe designs.

The interior also benefits from a line of updates as well, such as a reshaped dashboard with new carbon fiber trim bits, a new AMG driver mode select dial, and a redesigned center console.

Mercedes-Benz also added some technical revisions as well, but they’re saving those details for the actual debut of the car at Los Angeles. A new nine-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic is also included in the mix.
