McLaren officially announced to have started production of its new Sport Series line, starting with the all-new 570S, in Woking, England.
The Sport Series is a new line of McLaren’s geared towards the even more serious drivers, starting with the 570S, taking aim at the likes of the Porsche 911 and the Audi R8.
As a refresher, the 570S is based off of the same MonoCell II chassis as McLaren’s other models and also gets the same twin-turbo 3.8L V8 as the 650S, though it’s tuned to around 565hp and 443 lb-ft of twist, mated to a seven-speed “Seamless Shift Gearbox.”
The result is a 0-62 time of just 3.2 seconds and a top-speed of 204MPH.
Following the 570S will soon be a 540C, a harder-edged model that will sit below the 570S with more aggressive suspension tuning, reworked styling, and an engine that produces around 540hp and 398 lb-ft of twist from the same 3.8L V8. Performance figures are said to be 0-62 in just 3.5 seconds and a top speed of around 199 MPH.
So far, McLaren boasts to have received more than 1,000 orders for Sport Series models.
