Fiat intends to step up its game with the larger 500X crossover by making a peppy Abarth version out of one, to most likely compete with Mini’s John Cooper Works Countryman equivalent.
Being an Abarth model, that means more power, specifically from a revised 1.4L MultiAir II turbocharged four-banger, but it’s the same mill due for the Abarth 124 Spider as well. Total output expected, 170hp.
Either a six-speed manual or dual-clutch automatic will be offered, giving driving enthusiasts the choice, while larger brakes, a beefier suspension setup and of course, a proper sonorous and free-flowing exhaust will be included to match the kit of the standard 500 Abarth hot hatch.
Prices are expected to start at around $20,000 and yes, it will be coming stateside.
