Video: Watch five generations of flagship Ferrari models congregate on a racetrack

You don’t have to be a total car-nut in order to know the prestige and history behind Ferrari, or at least the general part of it–that they’re just an extremely storied automaker with world-class fame and status as being the ultimate driver’s toys for the wealthy and frivolous.

You also don’t have to be a total car nut to know some of the more prestigious models, like the Ferrari F40, or more recently, the Enzo, or the LaFerrari. But that’s because they’re so big, as in, they’re the bees’ knees of the auto industry, being the ultimatums in period-relevant road-going performance.

So it’s an absolutely momentus occasion whenever there’s a story or other shareable experience with one. But how about five models altogether, in one video? It’s sort of like, a greatest hits album from The Beatles.

That’s what renowned entrepreneur and Hollywood producer, Alejandro Salomon, did by bringing together a Ferrari 288 GTO, F40, F50, Enzo, and LaFerrari, for a special YouTube feature called “Ferrari’s Big 5.”

All of the cars belong to famous car collector, David S.K. Lee, who’s also hotly known on the web as the Ferrari Collector.

Need I say more?

The video also helps to put into perspective how far automotive society has come with technology and performance. For instance, the 288 GTO is from 1984 and came with a 2.9L twin-turbocharged V8 with mechanical fuel injection, to produce 400hp and 366 lb-ft of torque…in 1984. Because it only weighed 2,560lbs, the 288 GTO sprinted to 60 in just five seconds, which are staggering numbers for the time.

Fast forward to today, we have the LaFerrari with a whopping 800hp and 516 lb-ft of twist from a 6.3L V12 hybrid system and it hits 62 from a standstill in 2.4 seconds.
