Mercedes-Benz is on a product rollout binge following their announcement to make a crossover variant to nearly every regular car they make. This latest 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe is the latest concoctive result of this campaign and as expected, it’s a baby GLE crossover, or a more expensive, stylized and less practical version of the GLC crossover–however way you look at it.
So, what do you get?
Well, the GLC is based off of the same platform as the standard GLC, except its has a raked roofline, less trunk space, all in the name of style and pizzazz. So you get the slight “coolness” of the Mercedes’ four-door coupe design in a package the size of a GLC along with the raised ride height that everyone seems to love.
The GLC competes with the likes of the BMW X4 and so far, the X4 only. Being based off of the GLC itself, it also gets the same engines, ranging from a base 2.0L turbocharged four-banger with 241hp and 273 lb-ft of torque while the more powerful GLC43 AMG dukes it out with the BMW X4 M40i. The GLC43 AMG gets the same 3.0 twin-turbocharged V6 as the C43 AMG and the E43 AMG with 362hp and 384 lb-ft of torque. Both versions get the same 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic as well with 4MATIC all-wheel drive as standard.
The 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe will hit dealers early next year.
