No, this new Dodge Ram isn’t one for yellow cabbies, but it is a special edition model

2016 Ram 1500 Yellow Rose of Texas Edition

FCA added a new special edition version of the Dodge Ram to its stable and it’s yellower than the yellowest taxi cabs of America. Except, it’s not being built for cabbies, but customers as the Yellow Rose of Texas Edition…

Right, so, it’s aimed at Texans who wish their new 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 looked like it served duty with a NYC livery. Ok, not really, because the Stinger Yellow paint does have some history to Mopar.

So nonetheless, you still get a Ram 1500 crew cab (only) with this yellow paint, some standard additions not available on more basic Rams like chrome bumpers, tinted rear windows, and bed-integrated LED lighting. Fog lights are standard, as are 20-inch chrome wheels.

Buyers can choose from the traditional offerings of Chrysler’s 3.6L V6 with 305hp and 269 lb-ft of torque and the usual 5.7L HEMI V8 with 395hp and 410 lb-ft of twist. You can even get the Yellow Rose of Texas Edition in EcoDiesel form with the Fiat-built 3.0L turbodiesel V6 with 240hp and 420 lb-ft of torque.

And, as indicated by the name, this version will only be sold in Texas dealers beginning next month.

The stars at night, are big and bright…
