Report: A new next-generation Jaguar XJ flagship sedan could arrive by 2019

Helping us remind ourselves that time is flying by is the fact that the Jaguar XJ is almost seven years old after being introduced in 2009. Furthermore AutoCar just published a report suggesting a next-generation Jaguar XJ could surface sometime in 2019 to replace the current model.

This sounds about right since by then, the current model would be a decade old, which is kinda longer than what most car generational lifespans last.

Specifics as usual are hardly available, but from what’s speculated, the new XJ is expected to be built on J-LR’s latest platform currently underpinning models like the present-day XJ and the latest Range Rover. It’s said to be extremely aluminum intensive to help reduce with panels made of carbon fiber. Power should be supplied by a similar line of forced-induced V6 and V8 motors as found today, with a potential new hybrid model on the way.

Some said Jaguar-Land Rover had plans to sack the XJ because of poor sales, but it would leave Jaguar without one of its most iconic and signature models, one that’s long been an expected competitor against the German BMW 7-Series, Audi A8 and Mercedes-Benz S-Class rivals. And that’s a bit of a big-no-no.

Not to mention, how could we imagine a world without the sexy and suave Jaguar XJ sedan?
