Infiniti has big and bold plans in place thanks to Renault-Nissan’s latest pairing with Daimler AG, or the parent company for Mercedes-Benz. This includes the expansion of the company’s crossover lineup, which was last left off with the new Q30…sort of.
Now, Infiniti revealed their latest effort in conceptual form, the QX Sport Inspiration, suggesting the arrival of a new replacement for either the QX50, formerly the EX entry-level crossover, or the QX70, formerly the FX crossover.
Right off the bat, the QX Sport Inspiration is obviously themed to match Infiniti’s current design language and overall, comes across as a sharp-looking vehicle. Of course, the production model, should it reach that phase, will be toned down a bit. But seeing as how the production Q60 coupe looks very much like the concept, there’s hope that the QX Sport Inspiration won’t be changed too much when it gets federalized for practical use.
Power is provided by a 3.0L V6 with 400hp and 350 lb-ft of twist, and a seven-speed automatic transmission. The grunt can be sent to either the rear-wheels or through a rear-wheel biased all-wheel drive system.
With both the Infiniti QX50 and QX70 showing their age, we can only postulate that a replacement for both is on the horizon.
