Ford’s Explorer-based Ford Interceptor utility vehicle gets a little more badass

2017 Ford Interceptor Utility

Ford has been supplying fleet vehicles for police and law enforcement for years and the latest to come from Dearborn is the most up-to-date Explorer-based Interceptor Utility Vehicle. And it just got a little more badass!

Heightening my awareness of any new-generation Ford Explorer I see in my mirror, the newest model gets a little more inconspicuous with a dash-mounted light bar, instead of a roof-mountd one. It sits on the interior and just under the roofline, away from the line-of-sight of the police occupying the front seats.

Although these crossovers are purpose built, one can easily say these are some of the nicest domestic-supplied livery cars ever offered for police to use. In addition to all the needed certifications and reinforcements, on top of all the extra equipment and gear, the Explorers still come with a nice list of creature comforts, more than the classic Panther-based Crown Victoria.

So just be vigilant for whenever you see a new Ford Explorer.
