Rumor: Could the next Mercedes-AMG E63 max out with 612hp?

2013 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Sedan

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class AMG sedan has always been a beast of a machine in many ways, ever since it was born in the 1980s.

So it should come to no surprise that the latest model will be as beastly as a German luxury sports sedan should in 2017.

Word on the street from German Car Forum is the new E63 will have at most, 612hp and 626 lb-ft of twist in S form. The non-S model will only have to make do with 571hp and 553 lb-ft.

The results also will be impressive, with the S model requiring only 3.5 seconds to reach 62 from a standstill in optimal conditions, while the regular E63 still hustles to the same figure in 3.7 seconds. Both are limited to the typical gentleman’s agreement of 155 MPH.

All have an AMG SpeedShift nine-speed automatic with rear-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive is expected to be optional, despite previous rumors suggesting all-wheel drive will be the only choice for the new model.
