Report: Fisker Karma’s reboot due this summer with a new name

Fisker Karma

Fisker has had it rough ever since they produced their first car, the Karma. When the company started producing its only car, the automaker faced significant setbacks brought on by corruption, mismanagement, and ultimately bankruptcy, making us believe that Fisker was never going to make it.

But this was apparently not the case as a Chinese firm by the name of Wanxiang purchased the rights to the company in 2013, following Fisker’s filing for bankruptcy.

Now, according to The Wall Street Journal, Wanxiang was able to get things in order to the point where Fisker should be ready to reveal their next car sometime later this year.

Fisker Automotive’s plan was to be able to build a new factory in Southern California for their new car, unlike the original Karma, which was built by a subcontractor firm called Valmet Automotive.

Not much is known about the new car, but it will be a plug-in electric vehicle with a range-extender like the original Fisker Karma. Though, in order to differentiate the new rebirth of the Fisker brand without the founder’s name, Henrik Fisker, attached to the company, the new name of the group and the car is supposedly Karma Revero.

Despite being the founder, Mr. Henrik Fisker himself wiped his hands clean during the restructuring of the company after the bankruptcy following.

Additionally, not too long ago, Karma Automotive, the new “Fisker,” signed a pact with BMW, where the Bavarian automaker would be a leading supplier for powertrain components on the new Karma Revero.

The new car is expected to be revealed and launched in just a few months time.
