Mercedes-Benz is on a product offensive to introduce more electric vehicles, both of the car and crossover SUV type, with the sole purpose to compete directly with Tesla Motors.
The latest development comes from AutoCar, who learned that Mercedes will be introducing a new all-electric SUV concept at the 2016 Paris Motor Show this year.
Speculation and reports say the concept will actually be near-production ready, complete with an interior, functioning technical bits, and will be the actual size of the production model. So basically, it’s merely a preproduction prototype.
Design wise, the concept is expected to be heavily influenced by the Concept IAA from the Frankfurt Motor Show last year, with aerodynamics taking the lead as the key focus when designing the body. So it clearly sounds like Mercedes-Benz is going back to their old method of “form following function.”
But until it gets revealed, stay tuned.
