The U.S. government seems to be acting well and swiftly when it comes to solving environmental and safety issues in the car world, but fails at solving real-world societal issues. The White House issued an official statement, promising to offer up to $4.5 billion in loans to help simulate the development of EV charging infrastructure, making it the first government-mandated rule to building a nationalized EV charging network.
With a completion goal set for 2020, the Obama Administration called for a “commercial-scale deployment of innovative electric vehicle charging facilities.”
Hey, how about calling for the incorporation of wireless charging lines on national highways?
The mandate rules that the national charging network must be “accessible, affordable, available, and reliable,” with hopes of fueling the development of this infrastructure.
The government has also found ways to improve their responsibility with setting the stage themselves, by adopting electric vehicle fleets for various government agencies. So this is even more of an incentive to get the U.S. government behind the push for better EV charging infrastructure.
