Mercedes’ new luxury sub-brand, Mercedes-Maybach, helped to kick off Monterey Car Week and the 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance this year with a new, high-profile coupe concept.
Meet the enormously large and lavish Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 coupe concept. And when we mean enormously large, we mean enormously large.
At over 18-feet long, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Coupe Concept is a two-door meant for just two people–yes, you get all of that automotive real estate to yourself, plus one more.
It’s designed to match the theme of the Mercedes-AMG Vision Gran Turismo, from a couple years back, meaning technology is also at the forefront of this design study. But at the same time, Mercedes looks to have only repurposed the old Maybach Excelero, while giving it a complete makeover.
The Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Coupe is powered by a total of four electric motors and a combined horsepower rating of 738hp. The intended result is a 0-62 mile per hour time of just four seconds. Those motors are powered by an 80 kilowatt-hour battery, providing a range distance of up to 200 miles in optimal conditions. With the right charging equipment, Mercedes-Maybach claims the concept can get up to 62 miles worth of charge in just five minutes.
Overall, the concept can be charged from a traditional wall socket or wirelessly through an inductive charging unit.
