The 2015 Morgan AR Plus 4 has been revealed at this year’s Silverstone Classic race meeting.
The AR Plus 4 is intended to commemorate 65 years of the Plus 4 and has been developed and will be produced by AR Motorsport, the company’s racing division.
It will be powered by a 225bhp Cosworth engine and promises to be the most powerful 2.0-litre Morgan ever produced. Although Morgan has not yet revealed any performance figures for the new model, it is expected to manage the 0-60mph dash in around 6sec and weighs just 900kg. This is the first time that Morgan has used a Cosworth engine in one of its cars.
The AR Plus 4 is a road car, despite its racing background, and limited to a production run of just 50 cars. It is described as having every available performance upgrade and a "fully loaded" interior.
It gets a selection of upgrades over the standard Plus 4, including an all-new suspension system, adjustable shock absorbers, new brakes and a revised chassis. Styling upgrades include 16-inch matt black alloy wheels, aluminium floor and door panels, AR Motorsport details and stickers throughout, a black Union Jack badge and footwell lighting
Morgan says it has also aimed to improve the car’s road usability and added more insulation in order to reduce road and wind noise in the cabin. The car comes with LED headlights and tail-lights, and the dashboard has been redesigned, although it still features what the company describes as its core materials of ash, aluminium and leather.
It will cost from £54,995, and Morgan says it has taken several orders for the new car already
