Unfortunately, the automotive world is facing a sad reality as manual transmissions become more obsolete with the advent of automatic transmission technology.
One of those technologies will actually be replacing the manual transmission in the Audi TT RS as CARandDRIVER reports the next model will only come with a dual-clutch automatic. The previous Audi TT RS was made available with both a manual and a dual-clutch automatic in Europe while in the US, we were blessed with the only option of a manual.
This is the same DQ500 seven-speed dual-clutch cog swapper that’s been tried, tested, and proven in the Europe-only RS3 Sportback.
The TT RS will get a revised version of Volkswagen’s lovely EA113 2.5L turbocharged five-banger with around 400hp on tap, which is quite a bit more than the last model’s 360hp rating. Expect a bump in torque as well as it gears up to compete against many cars, such as the Chevrolet Corvette, the Porsche Cayman, and even the BMW M2.
