Report: Geely Auto Group reportedly acquires Miller Motorsports Park

The Salt Lake Tribune reports of some interesting news involving the Miller Motorsports Park in Utah.

According to their latest report, the Geely Auto Group apparently acquired the track, following fears and concerns the track might close after the original owner, Larry Miller Group of Companies, decided not to renew the lease on the property.

According to some other bits, Miller Motorsports Park was then up for grabs, with its fate potentially facing total closure or ending up in the hands of the government to create a new military base.

Now that Geely owns it, speculation suggests the track could be used as Volvo’s new home base for research and development in North America. The Geely Auto Group is a subsidiary of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, who currently owns Volvo, the London Taxi Company, and obviously Geely.

The plan is to invest around $6 to $8 million for upgrades to the facility, a new test track, a drag strip, a new hotel, and even a manufacturing center for race cars.
