2017 Alfa Romeo Giulietta - first spy pictures

A facelifted version of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta has been pictured testing ahead of a possible launch in 2017

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta looks set for a facelift after a disguised prototype was spotted testing in Italy for the first time.

Exterior tweaks on the hatchback appear minimal. Alterations are focused on the front of the car, where the refreshed design carries subtle cues from the forthcoming Giulia.

The front bumper gets a revised design, and camouflaged light clusters hint at some changes.

The rear lights remain the same as those of the current car.

There's no official confirmation yet of how the engine line-up may change, but more efficient versions of the familiar T-Jet petrol and Multijet diesel units are likely to replace the current crop of powerplants.

A camouflaged interior on this test mule suggests that upgrades in the cabin should be expected, with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' Uconnect infotainment system - found in the facelifted Fiat 500 - likely to feature in the Giulietta.

First launched in 2010, the Giulietta is priced between £18,450 and £27,590 and counts the Vauxhall Astra and Volkswagen Golf among its rivals in its class. There's no official word from Alfa Romeo on whether this facelift will command a price increase.
