BMW’s Facebook page for their homeland in Germany decided to subtly remind us that the reveal of the M2, one of BMW’s most highly-anticipated models, is about to happen in the very near future.
Due for an online web reveal sometime soon, the M2 is expected to be a successor to the beloved, limited production 1-Series M Coupe. Though, this time around, the M2 will be sold as a normal model, with no cap on its availability.
As a refresher, we’re expecting a detuned version of the same 3.0L TwinPower Turbo inline-six as the M3, with around 365hp and 343 lb-ft of twist, with an overboost function bumping that up to 369 lb-ft of twist for a temporary period under full throttle. The intended result is a 0-62 time in a “screw you E90 M3” time of less than 4.5 seconds, with BMW M’s seven-speed M-DCT dual-clutch cog swapper.
