Toyota’s prepping a new subcompact crossover concept for the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show and AutoCar says Toyota could even be ready to produce a production variant by next year.
That new concept is the C-HR, which showed up originally at the 2014 Paris Auto Show, only to get revised into a five-door variant for the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show this past year.
The idea of the C-HR is an entry-level crossover to compete with the likes of the Nissan Juke, Kia Soul, and the Honda HR-V.
Nothing’s quite official yet, but for Europe, it could be named as a variant to the Auris. There was no mention of any possible interest for the US market just yet either, but it wouldn’t be unreasonable to see it show up on our shores given the aforementioned competitors are selling quite well here already. Toyota is indeed missing out on a growing core market and would be foolish not to make it for our shores.
