2016 Geneva: Alfa Romeo previews the entire Giulia range at this year’s show ~ All About Ford Mustang

Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles seems to be taking their time with the launch of the new Alfa Romeo Giulia sedan, despite being backlogged a bit from internal issues at corporate.

First, they revealed the car in top-spec Quadrifoglio form, the version being built to compete against the likes of the BMW M3 sedan and Mercedes-AMG C63 directly. And that was certainly enough to wet our appetites.

Now, Alfa shed some details on the normal versions of the Giulia, the ones more people will be able to afford and live with.

Set to be launched around the world next month, the new Giulia will be offered with a range of diesel four-bangers with the choice of a six-speed manual or eight-speed ZF-sourced automatic.

The gasoline options include a 2.0L turbocharged four-pot with a 200-bar direct-injection system, unique to this motor. The result is 200hp and 244 lb-ft of twist, only available with the eight-speed automatic.

That’s it for now, as there’s no word on whether or not there will be a six-cylinder-powered version to sit in between the 2.0L gasser and the Quadrifoglio. Nonetheless, if the Alfa Romeo Giulia seeks to duke it out with the standard BMW 3-Series, Mercedes C-Class, Audi A4 and so-on, they’re going to need a few more engine options.

The new Alfa Romeo Giulia , making its début at the Geneva International Motor Show, will be available in three trim levels (Giulia, Super and Quadrifoglio) and six new engine versions:150 and 180 HP 2.2-litre diesel with 6 speed manual or 8 speed automatic transmission, the 200 HP 2.0-litre petrol engine with 8 speed transmission and 510 HP 2.9-litre V6 BiTurbo petrol engine with 6 speed transmission
From April 15^th it will be possible to order the new Giulia progressively in all markets throughout the EMEA area.
The supreme expression of the meccanica delle emozioni (mechanics of emotion), the new Giulia offers distinctive Italian style and optimal weight distribution across the two axles, the new sophisticated Alfa^TMLink suspension system (Alfa Romeo patent) and the most direct steering in the market segment.
To obtain the best weight-to-power ratio, the Alfa Romeo sedan uses ultralight materials, such as carbon fibre, aluminium, aluminium composite and plastic.
Unique technical solutions implemented on the Giulia Quadrifoglio include Torque Vectoring technology, which affords outstanding stability control, and the Active Aero Splitter that provides active high-speed downforce management.
Advanced safety solutions common to the entire range such as the Integrated Brake System (IBS) which considerably reduces braking distance, ensuring responsive brake pedal response and no vibration with ABS.
Exclusive safety features include Forward Collision Warning (FCW) with AEB and pedestrian detection, which actively applies the brake in the event of the driver not doing so.
