2016 New York Preview: The Infiniti QX70 soldiers on for the 2017 model year with some updates

2017 Infiniti QX70 Limited

We’re just on the heels of the 2016 New York Auto Show and Infiniti just announced that they aren’t giving up on the slow-selling QX70 crossover just yet.

Formerly the FX, Infiniti’s essential BMW X5/X6 competitor has been with us for two generations, with the current generation being in production since 2009. So the car’s getting old and it’s about due for a replacement. However, the automotive press isn’t so sure that a new model is on the way. We haven’t really seen anything yet.

Nonetheless, that’s because Infiniti just announced the 2017 model year QX70 with some minor changes.

Besides the announcement of the continuation of the QX70, it also gained a new Limited model, giving customers “more premium exterior and interior treatments.”

In other words, this is just another list of changes and updates for sports crossover. They include new LED daytime running lights, which replace the functional fog lights (sadly), along with some detailed revisions to the front facia, the color themes, and some Limited badges to remind you of what you bought. Oh, and there are some back-breaking 21-inch wheels as standard as well.

Motivation is supplied solely by Nissan’s 3.7L V6 with 325hp and a seven-speed automatic transmission. The V8 model has long since been retired a couple years back.

The 2017 Infiniti QX70 will be one of the many new cars to be revealed this year at the Javits, but it is by no means an entirely new car from the ground up.
