Acura helped to kick off this year’s 2016 Beijing Auto Show in the largest automobile market of today with the all-new, entry-level CDX crossover. It’s not only a new crossover to sit below the RDX, it will be Acura’s first-ever Chinese built model.
The new Acura CDX is loosely based off of and is roughly the same size as a Honda CR-V, but they are considerably different.
Stylistically, the CDX is modeled after the Acura Precision Concept from the 2016 Detroit Auto Show, incorporating Acura’s newly toned down grille, which says goodbye to the beak of the last decade or so.
Power is provided by a turbocharged 1.5L four-banger with 182hp and 177 lb-ft on tap with a twin-clutch eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. Customers can also choose from a front-wheel drive arrangement only as well.
No word as to whether or not the CDX will go beyond the Chinese market. But I don’t particularly think we’re missing much.
