Volkswagen Motorsport is gearing up for an exciting new 2017 FIA World Rally Championship season as the latest car, the 2017 Volkswagen Polo R WRC, needed to undergo some modifications to meet 2017 regulations.
To tease the new WRC car, VW Motorsport released a digital rendering of the new Polo R WRC, and all I can say is it needs to be sliding through the dirt already.
It will be almost two inches wider than the outgoing model and 55lbs lighter. Power gets a nice little boost as well by 60hp, totaling 380hp.
Helping keep things grippy on the loose surfaces is a new electronically controlled center differential, developed specifically for the sequential gearbox.
The new car will debut in January 2017 at the Rally Monte Carlo when the 2017 WRC season kicks off.
