Report: Apples desire to make a car gets serious hires former Tesla Motors VP of engineering

Rumors are floating about regarding Apple and the possibility that they could be making their own car, a first-ever for the company.

When this rumor first broke into the newsphere, skepticism came from everywhere since it’s pretty universally understood, it’s no easy feat to research, develop, and build an automobile from scratch. It’s also wondered if Apple, a maker of consumer electronics, is even capable of making a car.

Mitsubishi makes televisions and mattresses as much as they do cars…so, that arguing point doesn’t work.

But the latest development from the outlet, Electrek, says Apple’s car-building aspirations just got a little more serious as the company supposedly just scooped up the former vice president of engineering for Tesla Motors, Chris Porritt, for “special projects.

Porritt is no joke in the automotive world, due to his previous senior position at Tesla Motors, his experience with EVs, and his work as Aston Martin’s chief engineer. He has worked on cars ranging from the Aston Martin One-77, to the DB9 and the V12 Zagato. At Tesla, he developed the Model S, Model X, and Model 3 frames.

Despite the controversy stirred by MotorTrend, word of Apple’s possible car, coined Project Titan, is still hot.
