The 2017 Subaru WRX starts at $26,695, WRX STI at $35,195

Prospective Subaru WRX and WRX STI customers have some slightly disappointing news today as the 2017 model-year cars were updated slightly, incurring a slight increase on initial purchase price.

To boot, the 2017 Subaru WRX now starts at $26,695, $100 more than the outgoing model, while the 2017 WRX STI starts at $35,195, a $500 increase over the 2016 car.

The price hike comes from some minor tweaks here and there, such as automatic headlights on the base WRX and a new tricot headliner on all cars. They also gain Subaru’s latest EyeSight system and Reverse Automatic Braking for passive and active safety gear.

Otherwise, both are still powered by the same 2.0L turbocharged flat-four for the WRX with 265hp and 258 lb-ft of twist, while the STI gets the 2.5L turbo four with 305hp and 290 lb-ft of twist. All are mated to a beefed up six-speed manual and a specially tuned all-wheel drive system.

In the same statement, Subaru also announced that the updated 2016 Crosstrek Special Edition starts at $25,595.
