Report: Porsche has a new twin-turbocharged V8 for the Cayenne and Panamera Turbo

The Vienna Motor Symposium happened recently and some German automakers decided to seize the moment to showcase some new mills for some future cars. One of them was BMW’s new, ridiculous quad-turbodiesel inline-six and another would be Porsche’s latest twin-turbocharged V8.

Set for duty in the next-generation Cayenne and Panamera Turbo models, which will most likely be the most expensive engine option given the fact that the basic models are destined to be given new four- and six-cylinder mills, the new V8 is said to offer “significantly reduced CO2 emissions,” but Porsche didn’t exactly lay out the nitty gritty, or even the engine’s displacement figure.

Fuel economy is also claimed to be up by 30 percent as well. So, I guess we’ll just have to take their word for it…That worked well last time, didn’t it, VAG?

In comparison to the current and soon-to-be outgoing twin-turbo 4.8L V8, it’s good for 541hp and 567 lb-ft of torque.
