The Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Concept is Italy’s rendition of a British luxury GT coupe

2016 Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Concept

Aston Martin and Italian coachbuilding firm Zagato, have a very storied history together and to keep the tradition, the two teamed up in traditional fashion to produce the Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Concept.

Based off of the current Vanquish, Zagato gave the concept a look all around, successfully masking the original curves and angles of the standard Vanquish, in a way that essentially modernizes the cars looks, to match Aston’s current design language. Speaking of which, that current design language, which helped inspire the one-off DB10 and the DB9-replacing DB11, was sourced from the original One-77 supercar.

More so however, while I think Zagato’s last several specially-designed Aston Martins were OK-looking vehicles, this new Vanquish Zagato Concept knocks it out of the park for me, and might be the best-looking modern Zagato and Aston collaboration.

The body itself is made of carbon fiber, so it’s much lighter, and it was sculpted to match some of the design cues found on some of Aston’s latest, such as the “double bubble” roof, and the floating roofline, aided by blacked-out A-pillars.

In addition to the outsides, Aston also gussied up the interior with red and black leather bucket seats, carbon fiber paneling, and more.

Power is still provided by Aston’s naturally-aspirated 6.0L V12 with 5592hp, up from the original figure of 568hp.
