Jeremy Clarkson’s recent history with the BBC is of no mystery after the former host of the “world’s greatest motoring show” was fired for punching a producer in the face. Despite this “fracas” as it was labeled, former head honcho of the BBC, Mark Thompson, publicly called Clarkson’s firing a huge mistake for the company.
Just in case you forgot, Jeremy Clarkson was filming for a season of Top Gear as usual last year. After some stressful filming, Clarkson was apparently overworked and hangry (hungry + angry = hangry, or being irritated from hunger) to the point of punching producer Oisin Tymon in the face, for not having hot food available behind the scenes.

Since then, it has been an unfortunate snowball of events, leading to Clarkson’s firing from the BBC, with co-hosts James “Captain Slow” May and Richard “Hamster” Hammond following behind. They’ve all moved on to strike a deal with Amazon Prime to produce a new show called The Grand Tour.
Clarkson’s firing has been the source of much debate ever since he threw the punch. Some highlighted the fact that Clarkson’s mother had just passed away and he was dealing with other life issues. So a tired and hangry Clarkson was also stressed in his personal life. And yes, people do snap, but at the same time, you wouldn’t like it if a co-worker punched you in the face either.
“Clarkson can be a deeply objectionable individual, and I say that as a friend,” Thompson told The Sunday Times. “I don’t think people should punch their colleagues. It’s hard to keep them if they do. But I would say his pungent, transgressive, slightly out-of-control talent was something the BBC could ill afford to lose. He spoke to people who didn’t find much else in the BBC.”
