2015 Los Angeles: The 2017 Cadillac XT5 arrives in the City of Angels to replace the SRX

2015 LA - 2017 Cadillac XT5

Cadillac introduced the SRX-replacement known as the XT5 in September but now, it was showcased on American soil for the first time at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show.

The 2017 Cadillac XT5 rides on a new platform, colloquially called the Crossover Touring platform and is said to be revised from the ground up. This contributes to a pretty hefty diet of around 278lbs when compared to the outgoing SRX. It also makes the XT5 one of the lightest crossovers in its segment with it weighing less than the equivalently-equipped Audi Q5 by 100lbs and around 650lbs lighter than the Mercedes-Benz GLE.

This of course means improved ride, handling, and performance all around and thanks to the fitment of GM’s traditional 3.6L naturally-aspirated V6, the new Cadillac XT5 will make great use of the mill’s 310hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. Customers abroad will have the option of a new 2.0L turbocharged four, but Cadillac didn’t quite say if that engine will come to the states for the American XT5.

Nonetheless, power is sent to the front wheels or all four through GM’s latest eight-speed automatic.
