Jaguar-Land Rover has been having an exciting year, from the reveal of their hotly-anticipated XE entry-level luxury sport sedan, to the all-new F-Pace luxury sport crossover–and even on the Land Rover front, with the interesting, yet very niche Range Rover Evoque Convertible.
But interestingly, AutomotiveNews and AutoBlog both heard from the Tata-owned firm that JLR will be absent from the largest auto show in North America, the 2016 Detroit Auto Show, next January. The reason: Jaguar-Land Rover insists on focusing on other international auto shows instead.
Despite not attending Detroit, Jaguar-Land Rover did say they will continue having a presence at the Chicago, New York and Los Angeles shows in the coming years, with exhibitions at other worldly events like Geneva, Frankfurt, Paris, Beijing, and Shanghai.
“Following a review of our global consumer engagement program, the decision has been made not to exhibit at the Detroit show in 2016,” a spokesperson told AutoBlog. “We recognize that the Detroit show is a world-class Tier 1 auto show, however, we have had to make this decision to sharpen our focus as indicate.”
This decision was a part of Jaguar-Land Rover’s big budget-cut plan to reduce their spending by around $6.8 billion dollars without laying off any workers or affecting production. This also makes sense since it costs automakers quite a lot of money to prepare and set themselves up for auto show appearances.
