Some new changes are said to be happening with the new Mini Clubman for next year as MotoringFile.com reports the extended four-door Mini could gain the brand’s All4 all-wheel drive system as early as next spring.
The system would likely be modeled and sourced from the BMW 2-Series Active Tourer as that’s available with BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system. Though, given how the Clubman and the 2-Series Active Tourer ride on the same UKL modular platform, adapting the drivetrain to the Clubman wouldn’t be much of a task.
In addition to the possibility of all-wheel drive, the Clubman might also gain a high-performance John Cooper Works version to diversify the lineup. An expected due date for that would be later in 2016, should all hold to be true.
As of now, the Clubman is only offered with front-wheel drive and the addition of the all-wheel system would also increase the car’s weight by around 134lbs. Though, nothing has been officially confirmed as of yet.
