2016 New York Preview: Alfa Romeo will be introducing some “normal” versions of the Giulia at the Javits

2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia (European spec)

When Alfa Romeo first revealed the gorgeous and hopeful new Giulia sedan in its top-spec, high-performance Quadrifoglio version, we got really excited. But we were even more excited to see what the normal Giulia sedan will be like, given it’ll be the more afford and easily more accessible version of the sedan over the Quadrifoglio.

Now, after many delays and pushbacks, Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles is finally ready to reveal the standard Giulia sedan to the US market at the New York Auto Show next week.

Meet the new base-level Alfa Romeo Giulia sedan and the Giulia Ti.

Both flavors of Alfa Romeo Giulia make do with a 2.0L turbocharged gasoline four-banger with 276hp and 295 lb-ft of twist on tap, mated to a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic with the choice of rear or all-wheel drive.

The separates are then indicated by the different levels of packaging and options. The Giulia can be had in Sport, Luxury, or Performance trims with a standard Harmon Kardon audio system. The Giulia Ti can be fitted with Alfa Romeo’s latest Active Suspension.

Though just because the Giulia sedan will be more basic than the Quadrifoglio, the standard models won’t be left to be a bunch of hodgepodge puddings, or at least we’d hope. That’s because the Giulia’s platform boasts 50/50 even weight distribution, the stiffest chassis in its class, and the most direct steering ratio offered.

I just hope it all adds up to make the Giulia the best entry-level luxury sedan in the market. They deserve to make something great.
