Lots of things are happening over at Hyundai, with one being the emergence of their new Genesis brand. Mock them all you’d like, but this is their Toyota-Lexus/Honda-Acura moment. And they deserve it.
But never in a million years would you have thought Hyundai had the guts and know-how to come up with a luxury sub-brand, but they’ve proved many wrong and continue to prove otherwise.
Kicking off the Genesis nameplate is the previously named, Hyundai Genesis sedan, which has been given the new title as the G80 while the next-generation Hyundai Equus will arrive as the G90. But in addition to those models, where the formerly Genesis sedan/G80 competes against the like of the BMW 5-Series, the G90 with the 7-Series and such, there’s plenty of room for an entry-level version to compete with the BMW 3-Series. And if you’ve been keeping track, Hyundai’s been known to be working on one.
This latest teaser has many speculating that this exciting new BMW 3-Series competitor from Hyundai might just arrive in New York for the auto show.
In recent past, Hyundai USA’s CEO, Dave Zuchowski hinted at the impending arrival of their anticipated BMW 3-Series competitor. And it’s about around the time speculation previously suggested this model would surface, a couple years back.
Not much else is known about what Hyundai has up their sleeve, but the latest suggest the new model could be named the G70 as it’ll sit below the G80 and G90 sedans respectively.
So stay tuned. More to come.
