After many years of teasing and taunting in what could be the slowest, most dragged-out car launch and reveal ever, Acura will finally commence production of the 2017 NSX in late April in an official statement.
Years in the making, the NSX has become what some consider to be “old news,” as in, Honda and Acura have been teasing the model for so long, it doesn’t exactly feel like as fresh of a subject as it could’ve been. That’s because the car was constantly delayed due to development issues.

Those snafus however are thankfully in the past–or so we hope.
Production of the 2017 Acura NSX will begin at Acura’s Performance Manufacturing center in Marysville, Ohio. The engine however is built in a completely separate facility in Anna, Ohio. The engine are then transported to Marysville to be married with the car.
As a refresher, the 2017 Acura NSX rides on a complex lightweight chassis with tons of alloy combinations and lots of carbon fiber. Motivation is supplied by Honda’s traditional 3.5L J-Series V6 with two turbochargers. It’s then assisted by a total of three electric motors to bring the car’s total output to 573hp and 476 lb-ft of twist. Channeling the power to the rear wheels is a dual-clutch nine-speed automatic. And interestingly, despite the attempts to keep the weight down, the NSX still tips the scales at 3,803lbs, which is pretty porky for a supercar.
Still, the NSX can hustle to 60 in three seconds with a top speed of 191 MPH, making performance to be remarkable for the car’s starting price of just $156,000. “Just” $156,000 because such performance was only attainable by more expensive cars, even to this day.
So you can sort of say the NSX is a “bargain.”
